What is SCRIP?

SCRIP is a term for “substitute money” or gift certificates that are used just like cash.  St. Patrick’s Home & School buys gift cards from local and national merchants at a discount and then sells them to school and parish families at full face value.  Home & School keeps the discount amount. 

Whether it’s 1% or 20% - it all adds up!  Last year, Home & School earned over $12,000 in profits and it didn’t cost our families a cent!

How are the profits used?   

Let’s break it down…

40%      Goes to a specific fund which will benefit

all students - differs each year

30%      Cash Back Bonus to you at the end of the year if your profit percentage totals $20 or more

30%      Stays in the SCRIP fund to maintain inventory

Show me the Money!

Over the last four years over $15,000 has been used for the Media Center, Technology Fund, Building Fund and Music Program.  In 2009-2010, profits will help purchase more laptop computers for the portable computer lab which is available for all classrooms and teachers to use.

We Need You!

SCRIP can only be successful if our families participate in the program.  So here’s how you can do it:

· After all Masses in the back of church by the elevators - volunteers will be selling it at the podium.

· Send your completed order form and payment to school in your child’s backpack and volunteers will fill the order and send it home that same day (preorders take 1 to 2 weeks)

· Stop by the Welcome Desk during school hours and a friendly volunteer will assist you.

 Here’s How It Works… 

Your family buys the following gift cards at face value for a total of $245 and St. Patrick’s keeps the $8.90 in profit.  There is no extra cost to you and St. Patrick’s benefits just by you buying gift cards for the places you  already shop.  Gift cards also make great gifts for babysitters, teens, teachers and hard-to-shop-for people in your life. 

Imagine if every St. Pat’s family did this even once a month: $8.90x500 = $4450 in profits in 1 month
