CLASSROOM HALLOWEEN PARTIES & PARADE – On Friday, October 30th, Kindergarten – 4th grades will be allowed to dress in costume and celebrate Halloween with parties hosted by room parents. Halloween gatherings will run from 2:00- 2:35 pm. The kindergarten – 4th grade costume parade follows at 2:40pm. We pray for nice weather so they may go outside with the procession. The route will begin with the PreK – 4th Grade students and their staff exiting through the kindergarten doors, staying on the sidewalk, walking around the church and back into the front doors of the school. Please feel free to join us, standing on the outskirts of the campus sidewalk. It is a great time to snap your photos of all our children in costume. If you do choose to come for the parade, we ask that you please park in your assigned pick-up lot and we will still have a normal dismissal. All students in Pre K - 4th, may come to school in their costumes. No make-up, colored hairspray, guns, swords, knives or any type of weapon props are allowed. Grades 5th – 8th students and staff are allowed to come to school for “ORANGE & BLACK” Dress Down Day! NOTE: Pre S classes will celebrate Halloween on October 29th.
PARISHIONER TUITION RATE DEPENDS ON YOUR STEWARDSHIP - A quick reminder to all St. Patrick’s Parish families to complete your BLUE parish intention card for the “2009 STEWARDSHIP APPEAL”. You will receive them in the mail this weekend. It is important to take time to prayerfully consider how we will use the gifts God has entrusted us within the coming year. This is very important in maintaining your participation as a parishioner and maintaining your child’s “parishioner rate” for tuition in the school. If you did not receive a form, copies are available in the back of the church or on the webpage.
UNIFORM CLARIFICATION – There have been questions about the approved uniform policy. Other than acceptable tennis shoes, students may wear black or brown dress shoes. Many students are wearing moccasin-style shoes which fall under unapproved soft-sole slipper type shoes. These are particularly unsafe in PE class when the students should be in tennis shoes. Please review this policy with your child. Below is what is stated in the Family Handbook.
Shoes: Students must wear tennis shoes on days physical education is taught. All shoes must be neat, clean, and without holes. Shoes must be predominantly one color and may have a modest, conservative accent. No fringe, lights, wheels, polka dots, plaid, patterns or abstract designs on the shoes will be allowed. No neon colors are allowed. Students may wear black or brown dress shoes with rubber soles and low heeled (1 inch or less). Shoes with eyelets must have laces and be tied. All shoes must enclose the entire foot and have a closed-in heel. No clogs, sandals, crocs, mules, soft-soled (ballet-type) slippers, etc. Boots are NOT allowed to be worn during the school day. This includes snow or fashion boots of any type, such as, UGHs or high heeled leather.
ST. PATRICK’S WALKING CLUB - Starting Monday, November 9th , we are beginning a morning walking club at St. Patrick’s. This is open to anyone who would like to get out and walk to exercise in the morning before school. For those who participate in the afternoon walking club, the morning walking club is just an extension of that. The rules will be the same, along with the paths of walking. Here is some further information.
The students will need to arrive between 7:05 - 7:15am. At 7:15, we will begin walking. Anyone that arrives after 7:15, may not join the group. You must be here before we begin walking.
When the students arrive at school they need to enter thru the gym entrance doors where P.E. takes place. There, they will be able to drop their coats and backpacks off.
Our school goal is to walk the miles from Elkhorn St. Patrick’s to St. Mary’s in Uganda before the school year is over. The more students the better!
When the walking is over at 7:45 the students will pack up their belongings and head outside or to their classes for the morning line-up.
Many studies have proven that exercise before school helps a student stay more focused during the day and also lessens discipline issues. I think this is a great opportunity for our school and students. Not only is this good exercise in the morning but also a way to make new friends. Hope to see you November 9th .- Mr. McKenzie
BOOK FAIR NEWS - Our fall Book Fair, “Destination Book Fair, Read Around the World”, was a complete success! Our fair did $11,272.71 in sales! Did you know that our book fair had over 50 volunteers (plus our student helpers!!!) spending over 150 hours to make this fundraiser a success!!!?? It is because of each of you going above and beyond that book fair gets roughly $3300 in FREE MONEY just for selling Scholastic books! As always… this event was a “smash” because of YOU! THANK YOU! See you in the spring!!!

The rest is done through the 7th Grade team and the recycling company! Thanks & GO GREEN!
