St. Patrick’s was full of excitement during Catholic Schools Week, January 27th-February 2nd. Entertainment, education and service opportunities kept students and staff busy as they celebrated “The Good News in Education.” The activities began at school on Monday with an all school Mass. Students enjoyed other activities such as a Spelling Bee and decorated grocery bags to be used at Hy- Vee.
On Tuesday, students invited a special friend to visit them at school. The festivities continued on Wednesday with Marian Mimes performing for the school. “Teacher Switch Day” was also fun for all. Each teacher at St. Patrick’s traded classrooms for a portion of the day. Thursday was a day of service. Each class performed an act of service within the church, school or community. Just a few of these activities included collecting school supplies and funds for St. Patrick’s sister school, St. Mary’s in Uganda, cleaning the church, and visiting residents at Marquis Place. The day was topped off with a very enjoyable talent show. Even some of the staff put together a skit.
St. Patrick’s science fair took place on Friday. Grades 5th- 8th participated in this event, and the entire school was able to view their presentations. All participants received ribbons honoring their time and talents. |
