DID YOU KNOW …St. Patrick’s School opened its doors in August 2000 with approximately 80 students in PreS thru 3rd grade?  Due to our community’s growth and support, there are now 660 students in PreS through 8th grades; we have three sections of Kindergarten – 5th grade and 2 sections of 6th grade. We will graduate our 3rd eighth grade class this spring. Our new construction will allow St. Patrick’s School to enroll a capacity of 910 students with three sections to each grade with an efficient and accommodating environment where students are challenged to be their best.

INFORMATION ON THE NEW BUILDING PROGRESS – The construction will continue through the week with the crew taking Thursday off for the holiday.  They will be working on putting the trust up as they start to make plans to enclose the roof before old man winter arrives.  Remember to take a look at our website   www.stpatselkhorn.org  for updated pictures of the progress.

PARISH/SCHOOL OFFICES CLOSED – OPPD requires that the power be shut down while the electrical wires are being run into the new addition.  Therefore, the building will be closed on Wednesday, November 21st.

PARISH STEWARDSHIP INTENTION CARDS - St. Patrick’s Parish and the Archdiocese of Omaha have been conducting our annual stewardship renewal.  Each family in St. Patrick’s Parish was mailed a green parish intention card and an archdiocesan 2007 Feed My Sheep card. In addition, the form is available on the school website under the Admissions Policy.  Every parish family is asked to consider how they are sharing their time, talent and treasure this next year and complete the parish intention card.  Please remember that each school family that receives parishioner tuition rate is expected to have a completed Parish Stewardship Intention Card on file.

HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING - is canceled for the month of December.

CHANGES IN 2007-2008 DIRECTORY – are being sent via the ecommunication email you received.

ST. PATRICK’S MORNING SAFETY PATROL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS - We are very much in need of help for morning drop off at school.  The volunteer time is approximately from 7:50 to 8:10 in the morning.  In addition, as part of their stewardship, 6th grade students are assigned to assist with the safety patrol.  If your child is assigned, please be sure that he or she is here on time.  If you would be willing to volunteer your time, please contact Denise Kimnach at 496-1210

STUDENT HEALTH SCREENINGS - We really need volunteers to assist with student health screenings on Thursday, December 6th and Friday, December 7th from 8 am to 3 pm.  Volunteers would help move students to and from class, fill out forms, and lend a hand to the health care professionals. If you are a physician, nurse practitioner, a physician assistant, chiropractor, dentist or dental assistant, we could use your help with quick assessments on students that may have needs based on the initial evaluation. Volunteer for the day or for just a couple of hours!  If we get enough volunteers we will be able to offer additional screenings including height, weight, etc!!!  Let's keep St. Pat's students healthy!!!!  If you are willing to help, contact Nicki Lanzante via email at nlanzante@netscape.net or call her at 679-5749.

SCRIP TIP OF THE WEEK - New to SCRIP is Fazoli’s with a $25 gift cards (7% discount), iTunes with $15 gift cards (4% discount), P.F. HY VEE SMILES FOR EDUCATION - We are progressing nicely with our Hy Vee receipts. We receive $1 for each cumulative total of $200 worth of receipts. As of Friday, November 16, 2007, we have a total of $42,971.54 in receipts. That equates out to $214.85 for our school. This program continues through December 31, 2007. Be sure to save all of your Hy Vee receipts and send them to school with your child. Remember that HyVee Scrip is also available from the school office and after Masses.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - We continue to collect Box Tops for Education. For each individual Box Tops for Education that we collect and submit we receive 10 cents. To date we have collected a grand total of 12,209 ($1220.09). Be sure to be checking with your relatives over Thanksgiving, as they might have some “stashed” away for you. Remind that Pillsbury Crescents, biscuits, and Grand biscuits go great with Turkey dinner and each one of these products has Box Tops for Education label on them.
