2007/2008 School Board Members
Steve Morrissey- President Steve has been married to his wife Tammy for 25 years. They have been members of the parish for several years. Steve is the Fire Chief with the Elkhorn Fire Department. Tammy is a Certified Medical Assistant at Physicians Clinic in Elkhorn. They have four children, Nicole, Kelly, Ryan, and Rebecca ranging in age from 22 to 9. (Rebecca currently attends Patrick’s Catholic School).
Steve would like to use his leadership abilities to help build our school and become more involved in the development of our children’s Catholic education. He would like to not only be a leader for the public community but also for the parish community.
Steve feels that the parish must continue to work as a family to build not only for the needs of current members, but also for the needs of generations to come, both young and old. Working together is our greatest strength. There is strength in numbers, and we all need to participate in our building efforts.
He promises to be available to all parishioners and listen to what they have to say in the development, building and formation of our school system.
Mike Socah- Vice President Michael and his wife, Mary, have been members of the parish since 1998. They have two children currently attending St. Patrick’s School. Michael works as an Advertising Sales Executive with the Omaha World-Herald. He will bring to the school board a dedication and commitment to representing all school families.
He feels the school has the ability to adapt and evolve as a wonderful educational facility. Michael feels there is a lot of work to be done over the next ten years. Each year brings new levels of education, new levels of management and new goals to achieve. Michael will do all he can to insure that all points of view and areas of concern are carefully considered and the best course of action taken.
Cindy Engel- Secretary Cindy and her husband Brian have been members of St. Patrick’s parish for several years. Their 3 sons, Harrison, Cameron , and Garrett attend St. Patrick’s. She also has a daughter Meredith. She is a full time mom and homemaker and works part-time as an occupational therapist. Cindy states that she has good leadership skills, is a good communicator, believes strongly in the importance of Catholic education, and remains focused on the goals of St. Patrick’s School.
Cindy and her husband Brian have been involved in various parish activities including Men’s and Women’s clubs, Knights of Columbus, Valentine’s Dinner Chairs, school board (Brian), Ministry of Moms Sharing, Welcome Committee, Home & School, and Cub Scouts.
Cindy sees strengths in the school mission statement (“to teach as Jesus did…”), which she and her family believe; the outstanding teachers; parents who take an active role in the education of their children; and in the strong leadership. She looks forward to the challenges that our school’s continued growth brings.
Wendy Anderson- Member Wendy Anderson and husband Gary have been married for 36 years and have been members of the parish since 1976. They have 4 adult children and enjoy spoiling their 5 “Grands”.
Wendy has been with the Elkhorn Public Library since 1985 and has served as the director for the past 18 years.
At St. Patrick’s, she has been involved in various parish activities. She served a 3 year term on the Religious Formation Board where she acted as the liaison to the St. Patrick’s School Board. She attended the monthly meetings and shared input with the school board members. She has offered her talents as a storyteller and puppeteer by reading to the school children in their classrooms for the last 6 years. She also has helped with the development of the school library, and the School’s Outdoor Education Program.
She spent 4 years with R.C.I.A and was a member of the leadership team for 3 years. She has taught Religious Formation on both the children’s and adult levels; facilitating 3 M.O.M.’s groups, and weekly Bible Study. She is an EMHC and Lector.
Wendy states….”In our parish mission statement we are challenged to commit ourselves through God’s guidance to model a true Christian Community to all. Commitment seems to stand out as the defining word of our St. Patrick’s School Community. The administrative staff, teachers, parents and volunteers are all committed to providing an excellent education and strong Christian values to the students of the 5 day school. I would be honored to help with the continuing development of that commitment.”
Kimberly Fangman- Member Kimberly and her husband Larry have been parishioners of St. Patrick’s since 1991. They have two children, both of whom attend St. Patrick’s School:
Kimberly has been active in both parish and school activities. She has taught RF and assisted with vacation bible school, in addition to serving as a pianist for masses for the past ten years.
After witnessing the rise and fall of the first school, Kimberly was dubious of the plausibility of opening another school, but she was quickly won over by the strong and faithful leadership of Father Ron and Principal Don Ridder. Impressed and encouraged by their dedication to the future of the school, Kimberly was honored to serve as the first Home and School Association President for St. Patrick’s School and to be part of shaping this vital parent organization, devoted to the school’s success. Kimberly also created, designed, wrote, edited, and served as photographer for Hand in Hand, the school’s newsletter. Four years later, she still edits this newsletter as Public Relations Chairperson.
Kimberly has a B.A. in English and writing from Briar Cliff College and an M.A. in Literary Studies from the University of Iowa. After working as an editor and writer for Catholic Mutual Group and teaching evening writing classes at Metropolitan Community College for twelve years, Kimberly joined Southeast Community College this past January as a full-time English instructor. She is confident in her ability to be a strong advocate for the school. “I know St. Patrick’s School through and through,” she says. “I have witnessed our incredible evolution from a small, 70+ student school to the growth we know today. Through it all, we have kept our small-school atmosphere and have provided an excellent education for our children. I am committed to our continuing pledge of providing the best spiritual, academic, and behavioral education for our children, and to nurturing the relationship between the school and our parish. Our school is an amazing asset to our parish community, and I would be honored to serve as a School Board member.”
Pat Adler- Member Pat and her husband, Jim have been member of St. Pat's for 28 years and they have been married for 38 years. Pat has been with the United States Postal Service in Elkhorn for 24 years as a Rural Carrier.
Pat has served as a CCD teacher and sub for 13 years. She was also involved in the Ladies Guild as a member and Board member. She is an EMHC and sacristan and has served on the Liturgy committee. Before the School Board she spent 3 years on the Parish Council.
She also served as a 4-H leader. Pat was also involved in Little League as a Board member, coach and tournament director.
Pat and Jim both were the recipients of 13 years of Catholic education. All of their children attended Creighton Prep or Marian High School, some attended Catholic grade school, when available, and or Catholic college. They understand the sacrifices necessary to make this possible and stress the value of Catholic education with their family and community. These values and commitments they feel are found in a religious based environment.
