PARISHIONER TUITION RATE DEPENDS ON YOUR STEWARDSHIP - A quick reminder to all St. Patrick’s Parish families to complete your BLUE parish intention card for the “2009 STEWARDSHIP APPEAL”. You will receive them in the mail this weekend. It is important to take time to prayerfully consider how we will use the gifts God has entrusted us within the coming year. This is very important in maintaining your participation as a parishioner and maintaining your child’s “parishioner rate” for tuition in the school. If you did not receive a form, copies are available in the back of the church or on the webpage.
ABSENT OR TARDY & PICKING UP MISSED SCHOOLWORK - Please remember, if your child is going to be absent, tardy, or picked up early on any school day, always call St. Patrick’s school office at 289-5407 or email the school office at sgrewe@stpatselkhorn.org and kmoritz@stpatselkhorn.org.
Also, please include in your email your child’s homeroom teacher to let them know by 8:30am on these specific days. NOTE: When your child is absent, please contact your child’s teachers via email and they will place it for you at the Welcome Desk by 3:30pm. This allows all teachers the time to collect the materials and write instructions to send. Thanks goes out to all of those who are consistently following this procedure.
NOVEMBER 12th IS OUR NEXT 2PM DISMISSAL. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR ALL MONTHLY 2PM DISMISSALS- On the 2nd Thursday of each month, our school dismisses at 2:00pm to allow for Teacher’s In-Services. All students must be picked up on time on those days. The remaining 2009-2010 early dismissals are listed as follows: December 10th, January 14th, February 11th, March 11th, April 8th, and May 13th! Please plan accordingly with these early pickups, and make proper arrangements so all teachers may get to their meetings promptly. Late pickups will incur a $5 late fee. Thank you for your cooperation.
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BEING A COPY HELPER? - A great opportunity has become available for you to share some of your time, treasure, and talent. Copy Helpers are needed! We currently have openings to help with copying on Tuesdays, in the morning and/or the afternoon. This is a fun job that is a big help to all staff as well as a great opportunity for you to meet and get to know everyone on staff. If interested please contact Deb Strumberger at dstrumberger@mac.com.
MORNING ST. PATRICK’S WALKING CLUB - Starting Monday, November 9th , we are beginning a morning walking club at St. Patrick’s on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is open to anyone who would like to get out and walk to exercise in the morning before school. For those who participate in the afternoon walking club, the morning walking club is just an extension of that. The rules will be the same, along with the paths of walking. Here is some further information.
The students will need to arrive between 7:05 - 7:15am on Mondays and Wednesdays. At 7:15, we will begin walking. Anyone that arrives after 7:15 may not join the group. You must be here before we begin walking.
When the students arrive at school they need to enter thru the gym entrance doors where P.E. takes place. There, they will be able to drop their coats and backpacks off.
Our school goal is to walk the miles from Elkhorn St. Patrick’s to St. Mary’s in Uganda before the school year is over. The more students the better!
When the walking is over at 7:45 the students will pack up their belongings and head outside or to their classes for the morning line-up
Many studies have proven that exercise before school helps a student stay more focused during the day and also lessens discipline issues. I think this is a great opportunity for our school and students. Not only is this good exercise in the morning but also a way to make new friends. Hope to see you on November 9th - Mr. McKenzie.
RECYCLEBANK GREEN SCHOOLS PROGRAM – GRANT ACCEPTANCE - We are pleased to share with the St. Patrick’s community that our school has been chosen as 1 of 15 schools across the country to participate in the “RecycleBank Green Schools” Program. With this acceptance, the job now falls on our shoulders to get people involved. In order to receive the requested funds that will go towards putting recycle bins in every classroom, we need anyone who is already using the RecycleBank program to find us and donate to our cause. If you are a member, when you go to redeem your rewards, click on “green schools”, and find St. Patrick’s School, Elkhorn, NE. For every 100 points given to us, we get $10 toward our goal. The first step to helping the environment is by greening up our school. To help, we are recycling paper and you can help us accomplish this task. Thanks for your support!
BOOK FAIR CORRECTION - Last week it was incorrectly reported that we receive 30% back in cash from SCHOLASTIC from our recent book fair – the correct percentage is 25%. We did $11,272.71 in book sales and SCHOLASTIC is giving us 25% back in cash – thus, our “cut” is $2,818.18! Still very exciting to get free money for purchasing books for our kids, teachers, and library – for just encouraging everyone to READ! Many thanks to you and SCHOLASTIC! Our school librarian, Mrs. McIntyre, will be using this money to purchase Nebraska Golden Sowers books, reference materials, and especially almanacs. Mrs. McIntyre is doing a fabulous job getting our library to be a great source of both reading & reference materials! Thank you! Jane Chapman, Book Fair Committee Chair.
A GENTLE REMINDER FROM THE ST. PAT’S CHESS CLUB - We are still in need of a few monetary donations to purchase enough boards for our new Chess Club. If you would be interested, please contact Chess Coach, Kevin Welch, at kwelch@stpatselkhorn.org Thanks!
YOUNKERS COMMUNITY DAY - For $5.00 you will receive a booklet with $10.00 coupon and several other valuable coupons! St. Pat’s gets to keep the entire $5.00! Proceeds from this sale will go towards the purchase of a COLD SALAD BAR for our students! Younkers Community Day is Saturday, November 14!
THAT’S AMORE – SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2010 - Items are now being collected for this year’s dinner/auction. Many wonderful packages come from our generous families here at St. Pat’s. Please consider donating something for the auction or being an underwriter. Underwriters make it possible to purchase larger oral auction packages with your cash donation. There are several benefit levels available and all donations are recognized in the auction catalog. Contact Ann Monday with any questions at 933-2692. THANK YOU for your generosity!
