REMEMBER: MARCH 5TH IS A $1 DRESS DOWN DAY TO SUPPORT HOLY NAME CATHOLIC SCHOOL - St. Patrick’s Catholic School is sponsoring a Dollar Drive, to support Holy Name Catholic School in Omaha, NE. Holy Name is having some serious financial problems, so much that they were considering closing their doors.  Several schools are doing things to help them and we are asking a minimum of $1 or more per St. Patrick’s student. This donation will allow each student to enjoy a Dress down day on Friday, March 5th.

MCj04240340000[1]TEACHER APPRECIATION; “A WORLD OF THANKS IS MARCH 8TH -12TH -  Haven’t returned your donation envelope yet? There is still time!  Please send in your financial contribution in any envelope, addressed Teacher Appreciation, to the school office, by Monday, March 8th. Thank you to all of the parents for their generous donations so far.    Our teacher's are so deserving, and will really appreciate it their SCRIP certificates. .  If you have any questions call Jenny Johnston at 492-9593 or email to jennyjohnston@cox.net.

STUDENT REFERRAL PROGRAM – We know that you, our parents and parishioners, are the best resource for St. Patrick’s School.  Good, old-fashioned word of mouth has really contributed to our growth. We want to thank you for talking to your neighbors, friends, and colleagues about our school.  We now have an incentive for you to continue doing so!  St. Patrick’s School is excited to introduce our Student Referral Program.  If you refer a student to St. Patrick’s School and he/she enrolls, you will receive a $100 credit towards your tuition for every student that you refer. If a parishioner brings a student (For example, grandchildren, nieces/nephews) to the school, the credit will be applied to the newly enrolled student’s tuition after the first semester is completed. This incentive does not apply to grades where there is a waitlist or previously submitted applications. This new program goes into effect today. Please contact Mr. Ridder via email at ridderd@stpatselkhorn.org or call the school office (289-5407). See the link below for more details on this program.

TUITION ASSISTANCE DEADLINES – Families who feel Tuition Assistance may be necessary for the 2010-2011 school year need to apply for the Archdiocese Children’s Scholarship Fund.  In order to qualify for St. Patrick’s Tuition Assistance, applicants must have first applied for the Children’s Scholarship Fund.  Applications for the Children’s Scholarship Fund are due by Monday, April 19, 2010, and applications for St. Patrick’s Tuition Assistance will be due by Tuesday, June 1, 2010.  Due to increased demand, and less funding available, deadlines must be adhered to.  All information is kept strictly confidential.  If you are in need of the Children’s Scholarship Fund Application and the St. Patrick’s Tuition Assistance Application, please contact our Business Manager, Vicki Payton, for the updated forms.  She can be reached at the parish office at 289-4289 Ext 1521, or via email at vpayton@stpatselkhorn.org.  Completed forms are to be either emailed back to Vicki, or in a sealed envelope to her attention.

NOTE FROM MR. WELCH, MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH & RELIGION TEACHER - After much prayer and discernment, I have decided that I will not be returning to Saint Patrick’s to teach next year.  This was a difficult decision for me, but at this time, I know that God is calling me down a different path.  It has been wonderful to be a part of such a welcoming and supportive community, and I will always treasure the many relationships formed here at Saint Patrick’s.  I thank my middle school team, fellow staff members, students, and parents for all of their support this year.  I am blessed to know so many kind and caring people. - Kevin Welch

MR. RIDDER’S RESPONSE – Whether someone has been here for several years or just one, either way, it is hard to see them leave.  Mr. Welch is a very spiritual and caring young man who will be missed by all of us at St. Patrick’s School.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS CAMPAIGN RUNS MARCH 1ST THROUGH MARCH 19TH - Student Council began the Pennies-for-Patients Campaign on Monday, March 1 and will run through Friday, March 19th.  They have a special announcement planned for Monday afternoon to get the classes excited to participate.  Student Council members & trusted helpers will be coming into your classroom to spread the excitement.

We have decided to mix things up & make it more exciting and competitive for all.  Kindergarten – 2nd grades will be going for the goal of 3,500 oz. of pennies.  If they bring in a dollar, that will count for 9 oz.  If they reach or exceed the goal, all will receive a Popsicle treat.

In 3rd – 8th grade, the students will be competing grade level vs. grade level.  Broken down as follows:

  • 3rd grade vs. 4th grade
  • 5th grade vs. 6th grade
  • 7th grade vs. 8th grade

The winner at each level will earn a dress down day.  The OVERALL classroom winner for 3rd through 8th grade will receive a special award that will be decided by the homeroom teacher. Some of the suggestions were a water fight (to be held on a hot day in May), pizza party, ice cream sundae party, etc. Blessings & thank you for your support of this worthy cause – Student Council
