RF Committee Bylaws

Religious Formation Committee Bylaws
 

I.  Structure:

The Religious Formation Committee is composed of elected members and established to provide opportunities for total and continuing Christian development of programs for children.

II.  Purpose:

The Religious Formation Committee is responsible for providing guidance, leadership, and application to the entire field of religious formation of all aspects of faith formation to the children and their parents in our parish.

III.  Membership:

The Religious Formation Committee shall consist of twelve members elected by the parish during the month of May each year.  The Pastor and the Director of Religious Formation will also serve on the committee as well.

IV.  Term of Office

a.  The term of office shall be three years.  Each member is eligible for a second term.  After serving a second term, a member must have one year of non-committee activity prior to becoming eligible for election.

b.  Vacancies of the committee shall be filled by appointment from the Pastor or the Director of Religious Formation.  Such persons shall serve the unexpired terms of the individuals whom they replaced.

V.  Organization

a.  The committee shall elect a chairperson, vice-chairperson and a secretary at the first fall meeting.  The officers will serve a one year term and can be reelected.

b.  The vice-chairperson shall perform all duties of the chairperson when he/she is absent or unable to act and shall succeed the chairperson the following year.

c.  The secretary will maintain a written record of all acts of the committee, providing a  copy of the monthly meeting minutes to all members of the committee.

d.  The chairperson and the Director of Religious Formation will meet prior to the meeting to set the agenda.  Any additions/alterations to the agenda will be made at that meeting.

VI.  Meetings:

Meetings should be held the third Tuesday of each month from August through May. Regular attendance is expected.

a.  Responsibilities:  The committee will assist the Director of Religious Formation in planning, development, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the faith formation programs for the children in our parish.

b.  Voting Members:  All members of the committee are eligible to vote on all subjects, except the Pastor and the Director of Religious Formation.

c.  Committee Resolutions:  Committee resolutions are arrived at by consensus, or if necessary, by a majority vote of those members present.
