Home and School Meeting Minutes January 9, 2007
Prayer for Teachers
Last meeting minutes reviewed and approved.
President’s report: The points that were accumulated on a credit card from the purchase of SCRIP have been turned over to the Auction Committee to decide what the committee needs for an additional auction item. This will be our donation item to the Auction.
Vice-President’s report: School board report – discussion of budgets; teachers; hiring opportunities; plans for next year. Grounds committee requested other church committee’s support in the upkeep of the grounds this summer. April and October would be the months of overall work where we ask everyone’s support. When asked for support, Men’s club suggested the clubs break it out in to one week per month during the summer months of June, July and August. It was proposed that H & S, Men’s Club, Knights and then the church/RF divide up the weeks. Jan. – March no work is done. May is done by H & S. September would be H & S. Nov. and Dec. again no one would be doing grounds work. Is it possible to contract the mowing of the lawn during the summer months with the same company that does the parish cemetery? Staci will ask the church office to get an estimate. No motion was taken.
Treasurer’s report: Total net worth - $34,479. A CD was purchased for $4100 Elf money collected was $4400
Secretary’s report: Web site items have been updated. The bylaws have been retyped. Copies have been given to the Directors to review updates from past meetings. We’ll review edits and need for additional edits next meeting.
Committee reports: Box Tops: Diane A. reports a check for $1600 should be arriving soon HyVee receipts: Diane A. anticipates around $800 from that project Catholic Schools week: As student representative, John Michel reported service day is Thursday. Each class is working on a unique event. On February 1 student council is running a talent show for 3rd grade on up. Special persons day is Tuesday with cookies. Teacher switch day is Wednesday. Generic signs that can be used annually are being created for the entrance and school area. Motion to set a $500 budget with the option to come back if needed. Carried. Teacher appreciation: $331 was gathered over what was given out as SCRIP for holiday gifts to teachers, assistants and staff. A school volunteer requested pencil sharpeners be purchased for school. Motion to use the remaining Elf dollars and buy pencil sharpeners for the copier, library and classrooms was passed. St. Patrick’s day parade has been moved by the city to March 10. SCRIP: Ho, Ho, Ho week went well and is over last year around $2000. Sales have doubled over all throughout the year.
New business: There was a motion to discount certain apparel items that are in stock in order to alleviate overstock within a predetermined time frame this winter. Carried.
